Mongolia (9)

They are very proud of the fact that this horse was extinct in Mongolia. They gathered a few horses from zoos around the world, developed a breeding program, and now there are hundreds in this area.

We did a lot of bumping around in a dusty 4×4 to be able to see the horses up on the mountain. Underwhelming.

I blame this as the beginning of some kind of throat and sinus allergy type thing that is still plaguing me today.

I heard that the African Sahara Sands were coming across the ocean giving people a lot of allergies and I’m thinking maybe I picked up the same problem from the Gobi desert.

CLCIK.

Eagles.

I found this so interesting. This is space junk that fell to the ground from a United States Delta TA-2 Transportation rocket in 2010.

Here is a list of big donors to help out the research conservation activities of this museum. I was surprised to see the Minnesota Zoo made a contribution.

This was the very important pink tag that indicated my suitcase needed to go on the bus with us and not stay in Ulaanbaatan. My tag was just ready to fall apart and the only tape I could find was KT Tape in my first aid kit. That was a very expensive piece of tape. It worked!!

This was our s’mores party on the cement slab behind our gers. And these are the local people that brought their instruments and joined our party. Fun was had by all.

Wine and s’mores and line dancing, who could ask for more!

Look at those beautiful nails. I doubt she had those nails while she was a dentist.

I bought my first coffee mug at the first temple on our second day and was very happy with it. When I saw this copper coin showing a double humper camel and MONGOLIA etched into it, I couldn’t help but buy a second mug.

There’s the camel hair my camel was shedding while I was riding him and a rock from the river.

All the camels were males. Now that I say that I’m not sure if all the camels were females. It was one or the other.

Six days later I was up at 3:30 am to meet Jane In Charlotte, North Carolina and to meet Karen and Donna in Portland, Maine.

I really wasn’t over my sinus thing. But it was a great time eating, laughing, shopping, teasing and playing cards.

Happy travels to all.
