On our quarter mile walk to the local cafe, snack shop and souvenir shop we found this mama turtle digging a very deep hole to drop her eggs in.
The next day we tried to find the spot where she was digging and she did such a good job we never found it.
CLICK.

We took a lovely walk at the Penny Lake Preserve and the weather was perfect for hiking.

I love this picture.

I kept seeing the road signs for US Highway 1. When I realized this was MY US1 from Daytona Beach Florida, I was so excited.
US1 is what we call Ridgewood and it drives along our Halifax River. But it continues North, apparently, all the way to Maine. How exciting!

It was a little ridiculous to drive an hour and a half for breakfast. The long drive caused a couple of us to have lunch instead of breakfast. But this blueberry cream cheese-filled french toast breakfast was mind-bogglingly delicious.
Maine is supposed to be the state that provides the most blueberries and that’s why we paid $43 for a blueberry pie and why I had this delicious meal. But my research shows Maine is not even in the top 10 largest blueberry producers. APPARENTLY, there must be a caveat like ” Maine produces the most WILD blueberries in the US.” Otherwise we were bamboozled!

We were able to go to their Community Theater and it was quite an entertaining show. I found myself singing “a 3-hour tour” about several things in my life within the next couple weeks.

Just down the road from our Airb&b was this darling Cafe. Even their Giant triple Berry muffins reasonably priced at only $4. But after I bought a small box of chocolate shaped like a lobster for my dad, I realized it was $15!
It was sad to be leaving my friends and heading to the airport.
Donna and Karen needed to be there 2 hours before us, so Jane and I had plenty of time to go searching for Jane’s favorite water bottle that we left in the rental car. And Mission was accomplished!
It’s always wonderful to have plenty of time at the airport.

I was gobsmacked when this woman brought a stuffed bear larger than a human and put it in her seat. Thankfully the flight attendant insisted she cram it into the overhead.
And now that I see the photo I’m also freaked out about her tight leggings! What a shot!
All kinds of people make your airline flights interesting.
On my flight from Charlotte to Daytona Beach and inebriated woman and her family clomped boisterously on in the last moment and sat in the window seat next to me. She was loud and obnoxious and she actually made friends with somebody nearby and rented them an Airbnb in Palm Coast that she owned.
When her husband behind her asked for a alcoholic drink she instructed the flight attendant not to give it to him. Surprisingly the flight attendant acquiesced and didn’t give him a drink. It takes all kinds!!

Even though I had been to Maine before, apparently I was not collecting coffee mugs. I was very excited to be able to buy one and was more excited to have a beautiful puffin mug.
After paying $23 for a coffee and a donut in downtown boothbay, and $40 for parking, it was so strange too be able to buy this fleece zippered parka for $19.95.
I’m home for all of July and am anxiously awaiting to see if I will be going to Rwanda mid-august with Jane and Tom, and trying not to catch the Ebola virus.
Happy travels!

Oh. Did I mention when I returned home, this is how my dad looked. The joke is that I know he pisses off his girlfriend Christie quite a bit, but I told her she couldn’t beat him up that bad next time.
He was at her house, she has quite a tall bed, he sat up, he fell forward, hit his eye on a piece of furniture, landed on his ear, and then both the knees, while tearing open some old wounds on his arm.
He talked Christie into not calling the ambulance, but when we couldn’t stop his arm from bleeding on Monday, we hauled him to the emergency room where they did x-rays of his head, his ear, his eye and knee and checked for a brain bleed. Everything checked out and they sent him home to heal all his hematomas.
He is 97-3/4 and it seems nothing can kill him.
We didn’t know this was available but something called BLEED STOP is a white powder you pour into open wounds that will stop bleeding. I think it’s Alum, the same stuff that’s in a steptic pencil for men who cut their face shaving.
And Band-Aids don’t stop bleeding, only bandages you wrap tightly around the wound will do so — just a little information for people you know who are on blood thinners and bleed easily.
…… See how much you learn on these blogs? LOL!!
