These are the biggest trees that grow in the Amazon. They are huge.

I didn’t believe it but yes there are pink dolphin in the Amazon.

Vegging out on our last day on the cruise ship up at the pool deck.
I am heading to Maine to see the puffins in June and that’s what I bought this shirt for.

We went to a rubber Factory Museum.
Manaus was the only place the world could get rubber from 1890’s to the late 1910’s. The rubber barrons got rich, while the workers were lured to this town to work and then given so little money they could not afford to leave. Sad.

The tools were primitive and the men collected the rubber from the trees by hand, like they collect maple syrup in the United States northeast.

The only woman in the entire Camp was the wife of the owner and she tried to make her home as tolerable as possible.

The trees were cut with a large knife diagonally; and the rubbery substance dripped into buckets.
I think they could make a new cut every week. And collection continued year round.

This was the inside of the owner’s house and I took all these pictures because Christie was very tired and hot and decided to sit outside watching a video of a movie they made in this town about a rubber plantation.
MAYBE the movie was called Fitzcarrraldo. Don’t quote me on this.

I thought seeing these little boys run down the steps was darling.

Because of the bugs and vermin in this area, food and clothing had to be sealed well as you see in this hat box.

I think these primitive chairs are great. In the owner’s house was this game of checkers. The only one that did not want to kill the owner was the head worker so they would play games together.
Note right next to the game is a rifle the owner needed to protect himself with.

Our last Excursion with our driver and survivalist Amand. He sure is a handsome guy.

The the video with the sloth was awesome. Loved all the pictures of the monkeys. They sure looked like they were very playful. Happy that you were able to relax the last day. You looked very comfortable like your shirt.
so glad you read the blog. It takes alot of stress and energy — but then looking back, it was all worth it. ….I guess that’s why I keep booking more trios!
