Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia (3)

I survived the drive to the blue eye spring. Once again putting our lives in flori’s speeding hands, we got to the top and then had to take it 25 minute tram to this lake which was fed by a spring. The spring was so deep no scuba diver could find its source. Albania is very proud of its spring. I am so jaded I realize — I’ve been on many, many springs on my paddle board without the all hoopla of getting there.

There are signs all over that say no swimming. This woman didn’t seem to care. But according to flori, if they are blatant, once they come out of the water and they’re leaving on the tram the police will come and give them $150.00 fine.

We stopped at an out of the way church that wasn’t on our program and it was fabulous. It was called Saint Nicholas at Mesopotam. The olive tree was 900 years old and the bell was fabulous

This is dry wood termites as I can tell you from my landlord history.

More photo stops for the beautiful views below

This bream fish looked delicious but I’m glad I didn’t order it since it was a very hardy fish and you had to cut it with a knife (not flaky).

More ruins and amphitheaters. Note the faucet in that old stump of a tree and the platform in the corner of one of those pictures was where the Hammam scrubbing took place. I was just enthralled with the hand tattoo that was so simple.

I am always happy to see mosaics saved from ruin. I am still going to do one when I find the time.

I am very lucky I survived the trip unharmed, with its crazy cobblestones and uneven stairs.

Tom and I hit the Marina once we were settled into our hotel and then I had sushi at a fusion restaurant.☺

We had no interest in getting in the water at any of these places but here we were….

More old fortresses, more scenic views. And we took our lives in our hands driving up and down those mountains like a bat out of hell to get to those scenic views.

During WWI they had one submarine inside this mountain and space for another 19. They were never used.

Tunnel!

Drove up a mountain again to get this view.

Rooms were sparse but we couldn’t complain.

Every day is a laundry day in a third world country. This is the view from my room.
