Norway (9)

We had to be out of our cabins by 10:00 a.m. on our last day on the cruise. So Martin our tour guide had a quiz for us to while away the hours. I started copying all my answers from Jane and then made a few changes on my own. Turns out I was the winner with 18 correct out of 25. This is what I won and I gifted it back to Jane who would actually put it on her Christmas tree this year.

The sights of Bergen. The second wettest city in the world is Seattle with 40 inches of rain per year. The wettest city in the world is Bergen with 80 inches of rain per year and 240 days of rain every year. We must live right because the day we did all our sightseeing there was no rain at all.

Strange trees in Bergen.

These are the most famous and best hot dogs in Bergen according to Martin. Jane, Joy, Donna and AJ were thrilled.

AJ and I set off to find a liquor store while the rest did shopping at souvenir stores.

This guy started asking AJ about our politics and ended up giving us two free drinks because he felt sorry for us.

What a souvenir!

Reminds me of the fleur-de-lis f New Orleans.

They love their long words.

I would have liked to go into this Museum. They found these ruins from hundreds of years ago right here and built a museum over the top of it.

Took a funicular up to the top of a mountain for a beautiful view and found this crazy troll.

This was a place where the Norwegians were spying against the Nazis.

Funicular ride. We had to stand.

A famous bakery that has the best cinnamon buns called Skillingsboller. The name is made up of two words (skillings and boller) and translates to “shilling buns/rolls”, referring to their original cost of one shilling.

They were not all what they were cracked up to be. A little dry and a little boring.
