Rice paddys with people in them reaping by hand. They were everywhere.

Things you just don’t see in my town.

This was some kind of celebration for a family. Possibly a wedding.

I love a butterfly garden! I got to see two different butterflies actually fall out of their cocoon. They are so wet they can’t fly for the first 5 minutes of their life.
I thought that by touching a moth or butterfly you’d rub off the cells of their wings and they would quickly die. But the people here allowed us to hold them. This was a local moth and it was huge.
The workers would go through the outdoor property and collect these cocoons to save their lives, since insects and animals would eat them before they had time to hatch.

Elise was not a fan of the walking stick.

I was not a fan of these ugly black scorpions and beetles.

I could not stop taking pictures of all the collections in this Museum.

Look closely at the last picture and realize this piece of art is all just dead bugs!

Up in the mountain to view the rice patties below. Was like a beautiful painting.

I think this is what they call the color verdant green.

They take their Hindu temples seriously and thank the gods for the fruitful harvests.

There are many doorways like this that have a significance in the Hindu religion.

More local food with fried bananas for dessert. The brown Square thing on the dinner plate was soya bean or Tempe.

You will see many doorways like this in temples.

I love the mosaics on the walkway and the stabilizers on their little fishng boats.

When we intimated this was one Temple too many, how old but this one is in the water. Yes it was.

This was one of two days that we actually were in the rain. The roofs on this Temple are simply fronds from the local trees.

Love the birds and the green frog.

Many years old tree.
We were in a grocery store. I think this is the coffee whereby this animal eats the coffee seeds, go through their intestines and they poop it out. People collect, roast and sell it as a delicious coffee. No thank you!
Sumatra is one of the five big islands of Indonesia. If you want to know the price of these items divide by 16,000 for the US dollar.

I had to wait till almost the end of the trip to get my coffee mug because the island of java is not big into souvenirs. But Bali is one of the biggest tourist places in the world. It says Bali but sadly it does not list Indonesia on this cup. It’s probably hand painted so I won’t be able to use it in my microwave for dishwasher.
