World Equestrian Center (Final)

We got a golf cart ride to the indoor Arena 6 to watch the dressage competition. These horses actually dance, and walk diagonally, stop at the ring of a bell and walk backwards.

Click.

Click for dancing and loping.

Click. They walk sideways!

Again, the place had about 500 seats and maybe 8 or 10 people were watching.

Thought having my name on our TV was cool!!

This was what you saw when you stepped out of the elevator,

Love a flocked tree!

The Christmas lights were in the outside of the arena we saw from our room.

Lots of lights.

So fun. It was cold enough that we needed our coats — which made it seem more like Christmas.

Dawn locked in a payphone booth!

Some visitors are crazy.

Click. Musical entertainment. A Xylophone.

A little bit of the Nutcracker Suite. It was COLD for those poor girls!

Added to the Christmas spirit.

Cool statues. Don’t know what they were about

Our dinner reservations weren’t until 9 PM so we roved the hotel for awhile.

I hadn’t realized dawn and I were color coordinated. This was a $20 sweet potato appetizer. Needless to say I ate only 1/4th. It was like eating candy. Too sweet even for me!

With the upgrade for a view of the horse arena and early check-in, the hotel bill for the one room for one night was $686!! Our grilled romaine salad and the double-baked sweet potato cost $20 each!! One of Dawn’s appetizers was $39. But the dining room was lovely, and the decor comfy. So we couldn’t complain.

The people there had to have big bucks — owning and housing a horse for their kid, clothing the kid with special leggings with leather on the interior knees, a riding jacket, boots up past their knees, a helmet and a saddle all are outrageously priced. So expensive hotels and meals must not bother them much.

We finished dinner at 10:15!! And it was great to spend the night in such a nice room.

We slept in the next day and finally headed to the Pâtisserie, a French pastry shop where we carried a quiche and everything bagel to our room and watched the horses trotting in the arena.

It was time to leave by noon check-out. On the way home we decided it money WELL SPENT!!

It’s a great place for a day trip. You can find out what horse competitions are going on and made a day of it. I think it’s $30 for parking, but all else is free. If you don’t want to pay the high prices of the hotel restaurant, there are smaller eateries and food trucks. And the drive is beautiful!

If you’d like to leave a comment for me, please do. I’m the only one who reads them.

Love, Linda Jeanne
