INDONESIA Bali (8)

Our hotel had some beautiful stuff and I couldn’t give get over how they served donuts for breakfast.

Unlike the first play we had when I was so tired and jet lagged that I was miserable, I followed along with this synopsis. Good luck.

There were dragons, monkeys, bad people, and sons who got tied to trees.

I was very surprised at this bawdy part of the play where his penis was sticking out and the other men were pulling on it. Of course it turned out it was his tail that had been pulled through the front of his legs.

This was our last Temple and it was advertised as ” oh, this one is in the ocean”.

It was a beautiful day.

It was Tom’s birthday and he wanted no fuss from the tour guide and he told her so. So coming back from breakfast one morning she was waiting in the hallway handing him a little gift. Back in his room this is what we found. Since Tom is not a sweet eater I ended up with the macaroons which were delicious. The gift was a puzzle box that we had seen from the woodcarver several nights before.

Note the artwork over Tom’s bed. I had the same thing. I titled it “depression.”

Woohoo! I finally got some American food and was happy to have it. In fact the leftovers sat on my desk and I had it for lunch the next day also.

And I also finally found some real chocolate instead of fried bananas in a chocolate fountain at breakfasttime where I covered marshmallows with it.

Tom chose not to go, so I went with the rest of the group in two different vans to the Indian Ocean in Kuta for a walk on the beach and some shopping. Was hot as hell but I’m not complaining because I see Mongolia is going to be from 40 to 69° all the while I’m there.:-(

I think these are inflatable paddle boards like I own. But they were surfing with them. And this is proof I was in the Indian Ocean.

Gaby and I went back to a nicer shop to find her a dress for a wedding. She is very short and she found a cute dress that fit. She bought three. Course I can’t sit around a dress shop without looking and then buying. And here it is.

Yup, I get bored on bus trips once in awhile.

Our final meal. My mushroom pasta was the best meal of the whole trip and of course it wasn’t a local food. The dark dish was lamb that Tom said was delicious.

On our very last day I saw Tom off on his transport at 10:00 a.m. I had to be out of the room by noon and it was a very hot day and I was dressed in my warm airplane clothes. There was no air conditioning anywhere until I realized the spa would be an hours worth of lovely. So I had my FIFTH MASSAGE on this trip.

I did not have a coupon this time so it was $70 while the rest of the four massages were right around 36 bucks.

I found this in a grocery store and remembered the purple yams, called ube, from the Philippines. This would be a healthier snack I buy at home and it wasn’t too bad

This return trip was only about 34 hours. This was about an 8-hour Bali to Hong Kong trip, and then 14 hours to Toronto. It was nice that Toronto works with the United States and I got to go through customs while I was there since I had a 6 hour layover. Only had an hour in Charlotte. So it worked out great.

I find it very cool that in these planes now you can pick the view you want. And this is the actual view from under the plane as we landed. Those were actually our wheels.

This is all the stuff I bought. I try to limit my shopping to a deck of cards and a coffee mug. It’s very hard to pass up such inexpensive items though.

I have less than a month to get rid of my jet lag (which took nine days), before I’m off on a cruise on a small boat up the amazon with Christie, dad’s girlfriend.

I continue to appreciate all the prayers sent to me for my safe travels.
